The building is over three floors and consists of classrooms, school hall, hydro therapy pool, sensory rooms, kitchen, offices and toilet accommodation. The building is heated using a combination of high-efficiency gas-fired boilers and air source heat pumps with a CHP plant serving the hydrotherapy pool and is ventilated using natural ventilation where possible with heat recovery mechanical ventilation where appropriate. The lighting installation is carried out utilizing high-efficiency luminaires with automatic controls complete with daylight sensing. The building also incorporates rainwater harvesting, solar water heating, evacuation lifts and sprinklers.
