RHB is very proud to be featured in Premier Construction magazine's article about the multi-award winning HYLO project which was recently also announced as winner of the 2023 PCI Design Award in the Best International Building category.
HYLO is the reconfiguration, adaptation, and extension of a tired and rundown 1960s building to create 29 floors with 25,800sqm of office and retail space. The project added 13 floors of steel framing on top of the original 16-story concrete tower structure and has illustrated an innovative use of UHPC and GFRC to reduce the weight of cladding panels with embedded custom brick slips.
RHB was involved in the mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEP) building services design of HYLO from RIBA Stage 1 to RIBA Stage 7, taking the building from feasibility through to concept and detailed designs, monitoring the construction stage to practical completion and throughout the defects period.
We were also involved in the License to Alter process for incoming tenants assisting the Building Management Team with their statutory requirements and on proposed alternations that could impact and interface with the base build services.
