About the project
The club, which first opened in 1907, relocated to Dummer in 2021 after acquiring the Dummer Golf Club. In 2023, development began on a new 18-hole championship course.
RHB Partnership provided the RIBA Stage 3 MEP design for the new state-of-the-art clubhouse, driving range, and greenkeepers’ building.
Understanding the challenges
The project required complex upgrading of the existing utilities infrastructure in a remote rural area to serve the new building, as well as diverting the existing overhead High Voltage (HV) power lines that crossed the golf course.
RHB liaised with Scottish & Southern Energy Networks (SSEN) to reroute and convert their overhead lines to buried underground cables, whilst also extending an HV service to a new substation location. The buried cable routes had to satisfy the practicalities of the golf course layout, and RHB coordinated the works between Scottish & Southern Energy Networks (SSEN) and the golf club team.
