RHB were appointed by Howard de Walden Estates to act as MEP Engineers for the full refurbishment of 12-18 Devonshire Street which comprise of a series of Edwardian Grade II listed terraced buildings in the Harley Street Conservation Area.
Due to receiving vacant possession of the properties at different times the project was divided into 4No. phases:
i) Phase 1 – No’s 13 and 14
ii) Phase 2 – No 12
iii) Phase 3 – No’s 15 to 17
iv) Phase 4 – No 18
The client secured pre-lets for the properties before and during the works with Donald Insall Architects taking No12 with No’s 13-18 being taken be HCA Healthcare.
The scope of works comprised the full replacement of the MEP engineering systems with a complete architectural refurbishment of the buildings to include an additional floor being added to No12 and extended areas being added to the rear of No’s 13-18. Complex MEP engineering solutions were developed to ensure MRI, CT and X-ray scanning facilities could be designed into No’s 13-18 for HCA Healthcare. The total floor area of the development was 62,000ft2 and the total cost for the scheme was approximately £12m.
