The newly built crematorium provides a chapel for 140 people alongside space for the congregation, crematory, administration and staff, and a separate pavilion with memorial facilities.
As this project was developed on virgin land on the outskirts of Hemel Hempstead (in conjunction with Dacorum Borough Council who also built the cemetery building on the site), the RHB team had to overcome the challenge of introducing new utilities services.
Following extensive negotiations, new gas, electricity, telecoms and water supplies were procured for the site, with the local gas infrastructure being significantly upgraded to ensure the crematorium receives a suitable supply.
The RHB design also had to include gas boosting equipment because of the required gas pressure, as the crematory equipment exceeds the gas pressure available in the local network.
