Refurbishment and new build of vehicle engineering workshops and teaching areas. The project consisted of the rebuild of 1,492m2 of existing workshops and 695m2 of new build over the existing workshop footprint. The landscaping around the workshops had also to be improved.
Existing services had to be upgraded to suit the new requirements along with a number of service diversions. The new build had to achieve BREEAM 'Very Good'. The aim of the project was to achieve a modern, flexible, practical and digitally-enabled teaching and learning environment; as well as environments free from health and safety restrictions that inhibited their usage and prevented the College from extending its offer to apprentices and level 3 progressors. Energy-efficient services were installed throughout including a PV array on the roof.
