The refurbishment of the existing school and construction of new atrium and open plan library.
The refurbishment and extension triggered the requirement of consequential improvements under ADL2B which was satisfied by upgrading the existing heating and lighting installations.
Services had to remain operational as the building remained occupied whilst the works were carried out. The lighting installation was provided with presence detection and daylight dimming in all areas, LED technology was utilised where practical to further enhance savings. New induction loops, PA systems and fire alarms were provided. New heating, ventilating and air conditioning system was provided in the new atrium area via roof-mounted air handling units. Noise attenuation and anti-vibration mounts were provided to meet the specific noise criteria.
