About the project

Butterfly Plan Residence is an Arts & Crafts-inspired family home located within a 35-acre rural estate. Developed in collaboration with Finchatton, Yiangou Architects, and Colson Stone Practice, the project features refined material choices combining timber, brick, and tile. RHB was appointed to devise a comprehensive MEP solution that integrates renewable technologies, such as ground-source heat pumps and photovoltaics, with high-performance building design to achieve comfort, efficiency, and sustainability

Understanding the challenges

Delivering building services for a bespoke super-prime residence required discreet integration of modern MEP systems within a traditional architectural setting. The design had to balance sustainability and energy performance targets with the client’s expectations for comfort, control, and silence. Coordination of renewable technologies, underfloor heating, ventilation, and smart controls demanded careful detailing to ensure technical performance without compromising the refined interior aesthetic or spatial quality.
